Refund policy

J. Butler Return, Exchange & Cancellation Policy

We want every customer to feel complete confidence when shopping with J. Butler. Because our products are crafted with premium materials and detailed care, our return and exchange process is designed to protect both you and the integrity of the J. Butler brand. The following policy applies to all orders placed through www.thisisjbutler.com and will be enforced consistently to ensure fairness to all customers and members.

All return or exchange requests must be initiated within fourteen (14) calendar days of the delivery date. Once a return or exchange has been approved, you will have an additional fourteen (14) calendar days for the item to be received by J. Butler. Requests made outside these time frames will not be eligible for processing. All items must be unworn, unwashed, unaltered, and returned in their original condition with all original tags attached in their original position and packaging intact. Any item showing signs of wear, washing, damage, or tag removal will be deemed ineligible for refund or exchange. Ineligible items may be returned to the customer at their expense, or if shipping payment is declined, the item will be considered forfeited without refund or replacement.

Exchanges are always complimentary for both members and non-members. J. Butler will cover the cost of both inbound and outbound shipping on all domestic exchanges. If the requested size or style is unavailable, you may select another product of equal value or choose a refund under the applicable terms of this policy. No price increases will be charged on an exchange for the same item, and no credits or adjustments will be issued for later price reductions.

For customers who are not active paid members of the J. Butler Courage Club, or who hold only free membership status, returns are accepted with a ten percent (10%) restocking fee applied to the total price of each item returned. Original shipping charges are non-refundable. This restocking fee covers the costs associated with processing, inspection, and return handling. This applies whether the item has been opened or not, provided it meets all condition requirements stated above.

For paid members in good standing, returns and exchanges are provided without charge for the first two (2) returns within any calendar quarter. Beginning with the third (3rd) return in the same quarter, a ten percent (10%) return fee will apply per item. If a fourth (4th) or additional return occurs in the same quarter, a twenty-five percent (25%) return fee will be applied to each item returned. These limits reset at the start of each calendar quarter. Exchanges remain free and do not count toward your return total. If a paid membership lapses before a return is initiated, the transaction will be processed under the non-member policy.

All sale or closeout items are final sale for both members and non-members. No refunds, credits, or exchanges will be permitted for sale or closeout items. If alternate sizing for the same closeout product is still available, J. Butler may, at its sole discretion, approve a one-time size exchange with a ten percent (10%) return fee. If alternate sizes are unavailable, the transaction remains a final sale.

If a product arrives defective or incorrect, you must report the issue within fourteen (14) days of delivery through the return portal, including photos or other supporting documentation. J. Butler will first issue a replacement or exchange at no cost to the customer. If you remain dissatisfied after receiving the replacement, J. Butler will cover all return shipping costs and issue a full refund to the original payment method once the item is received and inspected.

Order cancellations must be submitted within twenty-four (24) hours of purchase to guarantee full cancellation and refund. If a cancellation request is made after the 24-hour window but before shipment, J. Butler will attempt to intercept or halt fulfillment. If successful, a five percent (5%) service recovery fee will apply. Once an order has shipped, it can no longer be canceled and must proceed through the return process outlined above.

Refunds will be issued to the original method of payment after returned items pass inspection. Please allow five to ten (5–10) business days for internal processing, plus your bank’s posting time. Original shipping costs are non-refundable, and applicable restocking or return fees will be deducted from the refund total.

For international customers, all return shipping costs, duties, and taxes are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise indicated in the return approval. Exchanges for international orders are shipped Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU), meaning any import costs are payable by the customer. For defective or incorrect international orders verified through documentation, J. Butler will reimburse reasonable return shipping costs.

To ensure fairness and maintain product integrity, J. Butler monitors return frequency and condition history across all customer accounts. Accounts that display excessive or suspicious return activity, including worn returns, repetitive refund requests, or chargebacks inconsistent with this policy, may lose return privileges or membership benefits. J. Butler reserves the right to deny any return that violates the terms stated in this policy.

Chargebacks filed in violation of this return policy will be formally contested by J. Butler with supporting documentation provided to the issuing bank or payment network, including proof of delivery, order details, and policy acknowledgment. J. Butler complies fully with all card-network regulations but will vigorously defend legitimate transactions.

Any situations not explicitly covered in this policy will be reviewed by our Client Concierge team and, if necessary, escalated to senior leadership for resolution at the sole discretion of the company.
